Pomni Painterly Look Development Study

This project started as a personal study to explore a painterly approach to stylized character texturing.
The goal wasn't to recreate Pomni as accurately as possible, but to experiment with visible brush strokes and a more handcrafted surface treatment. I wanted the textures to feel painted rather than procedural, keeping the imperfections and rhythm that make traditional artwork so appealing.
Everything was textured in Substance 3D Painter, where I combined hand-painted strokes with a selection of Painter's filters to build layered materials while maintaining an organic, brush-driven look. Finding the right balance between manual painting and procedural tools was the main focus throughout the project.
The final look development and rendering were completed in Blender, where I refined the lighting and materials to support the painterly aesthetic without overpowering the texture work.
This study was a great opportunity to experiment with a workflow that blends digital painting techniques with a production-oriented texturing pipeline, and it's an approach I'd like to continue developing in future projects.
