Astrokid
This time I wanted to make a 3D character in order to get out of my comfort zone of assets and props. The idea itself was about making something retro-futuristic for which I ended using a cover art from a 1953 magazine with a child wearing an space helmet and toy gun as a reference.
The nostalgic aesthetic and playful design of the original illustration were the perfect foundation to explore stylization, proportions, and character appeal in a new context.
For this piece, I was responsible for the modeling, texturing, and look development, paying close attention to achieving a cohesive and charming design. The final render was done in Marmoset Toolbag, allowing me to experiment with lighting and presentation to bring out the character’s personality.
